You may want to inform the users of this fact and ask that they seek alternate software applications such as Crystal Reports or a proper BI tool. The solution is to find a better tool for whatever job they are trying to do. Excel is not made to crunch such large amounts of data, that's why the data was in the SQL database to begin with. They were trying to manipulate hundreds of MB of data that was exported from a SQL server. ![]() However, with that said, you will NEVER be able to do a pivot table in excel on 500 MB of data, with a computer with 16 gb of ram. Max out the ram in the computer and then you can say that you did everything you possibly could.
